Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco was born in Canada and is American. She has released more than 20 studio albums. Her music is categorized as folk and alternative rock but also has influences of jazz and hip-hop. The widely regarded feminist icon Grammy recipient Ani DiFranco is the mother of the DIY movement being one of the first musicians to launch her own record label in 1990. DiFranco's parents, Elizabeth (Ross), a ex-student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Dante Americo DiFranco met each one another while students at the same school.
